Our one-of-a-kind module-based Pilates teacher training certification program is strongly rooted in Classical Pilates with Contemporary and Pre-Pilates options. Our training aims to make Pilates inclusive and available to everyone. We strive to develop skilled, safe and effective instructors that help people move better and feel better.

Module 1: Pilates Mat Fundamentals 

Our Fundamental Mat program prepares you to teach pilates mat work to beginner-level clients in a one-on-one, semi-private or group class setting. A certificate is issued after the successful completion of Mat 1 so you can embark on your journey as a pilates instructor and start teaching fundamental level Pilates Mat right away.

Course Outline 
  • Study the history and principles of pilates - Learn basic anatomy and movement science

  • Exercise analysis classical mat exercises

  • Learn pre-pilates exercises and contemporary variations

  • Understand when and how to modify exercises

  • Know how to teach beginner and open level mat classes

  • Learn how to progress and challenge

  • Study teaching methodology

Pre-requisite
  • Attendance in 5-10 mat classes (a practice video is sent upon registration)

Requirements for Completion 
  • 14 hours of in-studio course work 

  • 4 one-hour weekly meetings on Zoom (recording available if you cannot attend in person):

    • Mat class

    • Lecture

    • Q&A 

  • 25 hours of additional study

    • 10 hours of practice teaching ​

    • 10 hours of self-study

    • 5 hours of observation

  • Written test (multiple choice)

  • Practical test
